But God is a good Father too...#

Maybe our Heavenly Father has been misrepresented to you?

Is your soul tauntedd by a picture of a parent waiving a finger at a departing child? The parent leaves God in charge as this omnipotent and invisible jailer raises His baton, lightly tapping His palm.

But God is a good father too:

sadly 'God is watching you' can be used as a stick rather than a carrot – notions of a perfect God, waiting to pounce and punish any action that does not measure up.

But God is a good father too:

Watching means compassion. It spells interested, involved and an incurable love.

Neither does the shepherd watch the sheep expecting perfect behavior – waiting for a chance to pounce and punish. The shepherd watches the sheep because he desires they don't stray and are not harmed. He cares for them. He sleeps with one eye open.

When a child is born, you watch them. You are protectively smitten by them. You adore them so.

We are God’s children. He is our father. He will watch us. He has great plans for us. He watches with pride and sometimes disappointment. He is ready to defend us and sometimes He lets us make mistakes. That’s what good parents do.

But God is a good father too who never blinks, He doesn’t want to. Outrageously He stalks us with His eyes.

Even at our very worst He lives the unthinkable and recalls our very best - for God is a father too.

God is the only Father any child may hug of who neither measures out love or becomes exhaustingly empty of love.

God is father to the world and you mean the world to Him.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)
