Calm in a Wilder World
Life wobbles then fear pops up.
The shakings of life invite the disciple to climb yet again upon the Rock who is higher than each of us, and replace fear with faith.
Those who lift their eyes to the hills are familiar with their source of help.
We are not as those who shrink back.
Eleven Biblical tips that will raise our eyes:
1. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are fresh every morning, great is His faithfulness. ~ Lamentations 3:22-23
2. Whatever happens conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. ~ Philippians 1:27
3. Press on to lay hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of for you... forgetting what is behind and straining to toward what is ahead, to press on toward the goal and win the prize for which God has called you heavenward in Christ Jesus...let each live up to what they have already attained. ~ Philippians 3:12-16.
4. See to it that you complete the work you have received from the Lord. ~ Colossians 4:17
5. Keep yourself pure. ~ 1 Timothy 5:22a
6. Fight the good fight of faith. ~ 1 Timothy 6:12
7. There awaits in store for you the Crown of Righteousness which the Lord will award to those who have fought the good fight and kept the faith. ~ Titus 4:7-8
8. We must pay more careful attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. ~ Hebrews 2:1
9. See to it that none of you has a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God ... encourage one another daily so that no one can become hardened by sins' deceitfulness. ~ Hebrews 3:12-13
10. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful ... so do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere ... you are not of those who shrink back. ~ Hebrews 10:23, 35, 36 & 39
11. You too, be patient, stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. ~ James 5:8
Recall Jesus asleep in a boat on a stormy Galilee? While all on board panicked, Jesus remained calm and calmed the waves at His voice.
He who stilled unsteady lives yesterday continues today. Just listen to His words. Our storms don't disturb Jesus.
