Heaven Had 2 Refugees

Heaven 'begins' with a throne surrounded by supernatural well-wishers.

Streets of gold, boughs of healing, my history hidden and empty of evil; this is the eternal fabric of heaven.

The Lord's light of glory that replaces sunshine defies any earth-bound imagination.

No realtor catalogue can be created of similar properties for sale.

Heaven will never be sold. No one will seek to leave.

Until that first Christmas no one had ever chosen to leave heaven, but Jesus did. (Satan had previously been expelled Revelation 12:9, now a displaced figure - never to return).

Jesus willingly became a displaced person, crossing boundary lines quite foreign to Him.

How could such unknowable, unspeakable splendor ever be willingly forfeited?

A feeding trough in a stable was NOT going to be heaven's equal.

Even carpentry in Nazareth would be of little improvement upon this babe's birthplace, and then of course He took Calvary!

Yet Jesus still chose to leave heaven. Could you imagine the grief and pain the Father and His Son felt when the topic first came across the dinner table?

How much more troubled were they both when Jesus truly did leave? How long did they hug each other at Jesus' departure? How emotionally charged were their good-byes? Did tears flow?

At that first Christmas heaven lost its son, but you gained your savior.

At that first Christmas the Son had chosen grace for earth and not the 'gold' in heaven.

At that first Christmas they both chose to give.

From that first Christmas paradise is now permanently bought - indeed secured for you and me.

Don't lose it, choose it.

Father, thank you that Jesus left that which is perfect, to live in that which is broken, so He could suffer and die for a sinner such as me. Thank you for securing heaven for me through the first Christmas. I give you my life again now to do as you please, for you spared nothing in bringing permanent pleasure to me, I will now spare nothing for you. AMEN
