His Cross Was Not The End

If I am dead, restless, troubled, enslaved or in chains my mortal coil is hindered in its walk with Jesus. This He does not desire.

He seeks me as His friend now, for He delights in my presence.

How can I ever grasp His thoughts for me or measure my value to Him? I must look long at the terrible cross, stand close-by and still - underneath it. Even recline against His red-stained timber and permit His bloodied tears to drip upon me.

Jesus did not give up when He bellowed 'it is finished'. This was just the beginning of His world's rescue, for now rescue was possible. His blood secured this.

How can I repay You Lord for all Your goodness to me? To gaze at Your cruel cross is to apprehend Your goodness afresh. You are not as a ghost who flees at dawn. You stand beside me in the heat of every day, should I take the care to see. How could I even betray Your love and sin again? Yet, I will. Jesus I know You did not give up then and You will not give up on me this day. The cross is behind You, but I know Your work is still not all done. AMEN

... let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3)
