The Warrior of the Soul

Soul Snack 215/11 ... The Warrior of the Soul

Every soul contains a warrior. A soul without peace contains a warrior at work. When the soul is restless the warrior enjoys no rest, enduring much weariness. This warrior carries fresh wounds and plods on bleeding feet vainly fending off all assailants and would be impediments to reaching the horizon framed Gates of Grace.

The Warrior of the Soul meets so many losses as the enemy's assault arrives; in his weakness he is powerless to resist them. Defenceless to the raging battles his eyes remain fixed upon the Gates of Grace. His hands can no longer contain a weapon, his body is too weak to carry armor and his legs too sapped to flee.

The assaults arrive without relent, exhausted the warrior of the soul hangs his head and falls to his flagging knees, quickly the enemy moves and stands over him. The enemy flashes his sword across this bared and inviting neck unaware that the warrior is at prayer. In an instant unable to be measured by even the blink of an eye the enemy disappears, the sword can't fall and the warrior of the soul lives to fight another day.

The warrior lifts his head and beams as he still sees the glow from the Gates of Grace upon his horizon.

Prayer is the only weapon that the fallen can still fight with - it is also the best!

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Eph 6:18a)
