The Horizon of the Soul

Soul Snack 33/12 ... The Horizon of the Soul

Temptation returns with the regularity of the sun rising and the predictability of the clouds forming.

Temptations are the enticing, soft and pure white clouds that peep across the horizon of the soul at the most innocent moments.

Yet each clean white cloud of allure obscures the very real thunder cloud all-ready to storm behind it.

As the shepherds read the clouds at night, a Christian needs to read the clouds rising upon the soul. Each perfect bundle of white puff filling the horizon of thought can obscure a tempest far more sinister.

Love the blue skies within but monitor the clouds.

Jesus replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. (Matt 16:2-3)
