Soul Snack 99/12 ... Truce with God
It is reasonable to expect that a sage knows the strengths and weaknesses of their own soul. Yet even those who live with wisdom and understanding can be so readily robbed of peace by the awareness of their own sin.
The consciousness of sin, the fright of sin and the persistence of sin all rail against a sinner's inner harmony, dampening their days and stealing God's enlivening and conciliatory truths.
God has called a truce with all His enemies who confess their sins. He is not angry, He does not maintain a daily balance sheet of sin and He has Himself removed all the penalties. His enemies are now His friends.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. (Rom 5:1-2a)
Sin need not rain on you when Christ reigns over you.
