Whitman's Sampler

Soul Snack 157/12 ... Whitman's Sampler

Travelling to a place with a song in your heart is a rare joy in a world that travels for duty.

Does your slide into the car on sunday mornings raise a tune within?

Psalm 125 - A song of ascents.

1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
    both now and forevermore.

As the Israelites trekked up Mt Zion three times annually to hold feasts to the Lord, they sang out their hearts to their saviour - these verses above are from a Psalm sung while ascending Zion with a raucous attitude of worship. To top Mount Zion is a bracing and energetic ascent.

Gather beside these dust-laden pilgrims and feel the assurance of those who belted out this unshakeable resolve of God's good presence and fine intentions that scream ETERNAL SECURITY!

The song you chorus today is merely a morsel, a tit-bit, a Whitman's Sampler of the sweet praise you will one day lift forever.

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earthand on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:  “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (Rev 5:13)
