The surprising YOU!

Soul Snack 179/11 ... The surprising YOU!

Have you ever felt just not good-enough or been burdened by sin?

Have you ever sensed an impotence for service and questioned how could you use me God?

I feel sure this catalogue below of the sinful, the wilful and the inadequate may have a few readers nodding in agreement. - if so don't be surprised that God too has selected you as His servant ~ thank Him instead.

This list is anonymous and I found it on Facebook - is it really surprising that God may use such people - hmmm?

Moses stuttered,
•David's armour didn't fit,
•John Mark was rejected by Paul,
•Timothy had ulcers,
•Amos' only training was in the school of fig-tree pruning,
•Jacob was a liar,
•David had an affair,
•Solomon was too rich,
•Abraham was too old,

•David was too young,
•Lazarus was dead,
•John was self-righteous,
•Naomi was a widow,
•Paul was a murderer and so was Moses.
•Jonah ran from God,
•Miriam was a gossip,
•Gideon and Thomas both doubted,
•Jeremiah was a bullfrog ~ just kidding -- he was depressed and suicidal.
•Elijah was burnt out,
•Martha was a worry-wart,
•Samson was immoral and violent,
•Noah got drunk, and that's not all.
•Did I mention that Moses had a short fuse?

BUT:

•God doesn't require a job interview,
•He doesn't hire and fire like most bosses, because He's more our Dad than our Boss.
•He doesn't look at financial gain or loss,
•He's not prejudiced or partial, judgmental, grudging, sassy, or brassy, not deaf to our cry nor blind to our needs.

If these people are surprising so too are you if you have found yourelf here. Expect to see God lovingly active in your life 'cos He was for all those above.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (Jn 15:16)
