'It is finished'

Soul Snack 81/11 ... 'It is finished'

Alive, alone and no longer pained He rubs His eyes, the dawn almost replacing the darkness. His tomb was as empty now as death is in defeat. Stale air and absent breath would never be known to Him again. He stretches to the heavens, reaching with His very fingertips. He chances a glance or two around as His eyes re-focus. He sees three silhouettes of empty crosses against the pre-dawn light.

In the terror of an absent Father and a weight too great to bear, He recalls His final words it is finished. (Jn 19:30)

Released from His soul-searing torment forever the risen Son is now illumined afresh by the morning sun.

He had claimed it is finished, now He felt it is finished. Stripped of sin, a wisp of Mediterranean dust furls as He spins deliberately upon His heels already attending to His next task on hand.

What is His next task? ... that you too may know His release from death and you too be finished with sin.

He defeated sin 2000 years ago so that you could defeat sin today.

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14)
