Of Governments & Regrets

Soul Snack 171/13 ... Of Governments & Regrets

We have the best government that money can buy. ~ Mark Twain

Our long term lack of confidence in political parties, arises not because the people in them are politicians, but simply because they are people. People were never meant to carry the load of government without God first governing them.

Procrastination is money in the bank of regret and self-interest a deposit in the public account. These are the fodder of man's government but not God's.

The great news is that this won't be the case forever - look at what God has promised those that love him:

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this". (Is 9:6-7)

While it appears that the wait for His good government is a marathon, God is not slow in keeping His promise - He's just patient.

God's deepest desire is that all can rejoice and not know the eternal regret of missing out on perfect government.#
