Keeping Heaven

Soul Snack 115/10 ... Keeping Heaven

Have you ever watched the handicapped Olympics? Have you ever pondered the one-legged sprinter or the wheelchair basketball player?

To my most simple mind, the joy of their energies, perseverance and courageous success is diluted by the loss that caused their disability. This loss (whatever it may be) raises at least a tinge of sadness/sorrow in me.

Have you ever been separated?

Have you ever felt the woeful nudge of searing pain and loss? For loss and separation are synonyms.

Has the lost spirit of love, the fall from honor or the descent from grace ever permeated your soul and perforated your spirit?

Has the sadness of a loved one's death, the creeping advance of ill-health or the permanent removal of past freedoms generated a despair to your very being?

The things of earth can always be stripped away, but the things of heaven can't.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Roms 8:38-39)
