A Purging Fire
Soul Snack 58/10 ... 'A Purging Fire.'
The plumber comes to purge blocked drains.
The scalpel's incision is to purge a body of cancer.
The ship is purged of water by a pump.
The Holy Spirit is provided to purge the heart.
Purging can be disruptive and painful, but it is always necessary.
Only an eternal fool will claim the cleansing of their soul is unnecessary.
Only the ignorant and self-absorbed will fail to see their failures.
Only the wise and self-possessed will seek that which is higher and purer.
Only the humble will fear God and confess their sin.
Only the Spirit of Truth can cleanse the spirit of man.
"O Lord may my body be the altar that receives your cleansing power. Lord I am too ashamed of my sin and so dissatisfied at my indulgences, cleanse me I plead through your Spirit's refining fire." Amen
John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." (Lk3:16)
