Climbing Trees

Soul Snack 30/11 ... Climbing Trees

Think of your favourite tree. How big are its boughs? How extensive are its branches? How verdant are its leaves? How thick is its canopy?

It is upon a tree's branches that it is self-revealed. The shape, size, colour, and type of the leaves are always helpful indicators to identify a tree. But, the best indicator of a tree's nature is its fruit. It is upon the branches that the fruit is formed. It is upon the branches that the tree is revealed.

A tree may have a strong bough and a thick canopy, yet if it only bears rotten fruit it is ripe for the axe.

There is a branch of righteousness that bears good fruit. It yields the fruit of justice and correctness. This is the only branch to climb over, sit upon, and whose canopy is thick with peace. A branch of corruption will fall, this branch of righteousness never will.

In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land. (Jer 33:15)

This branch of righteousness will not snap under load or sway in the tempest -- it is secure, it lives forever.
