Sweet to the Soul

Sex, security and significance are three of modern man's major spiritual food groups.

Advertisers blithely remind us these are to be consumed both frequently and copiously.

Either consciously or unconsciously we each 'shop' for products to feed our souls.

Amidst our shopping (seeking), 'silence' really should rise to near the top of our buying list.

However:

Shops can't sell silence.

Manufacturers can't box silence.

Marketers can't photograph silence.

Yet:

Silence is available, accessible and strangely audible to those who would go shopping (seeking) it.

Silence is not found in the malls, at all.

In silence I hear His whispers.

Sitting quietly where interruption is lacking, sliding into the unspoken stillness of His presence is best savored daily.

When I can enjoy today, tomorrow looks so much brighter.

Silence guards the fire within. ~ Henri Nouwen

It's easy to find God's presence. Silence is its conduit.

Plan the times of silence with regularity for these are honey to the soul.

But the LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him. (Habakkuk 2:20)
