The 6AM Prayer

Soul Snack 200/14 ... The true story is told of an insane royal braggart who became a beggar. In divinely forced humility he roamed as wild animals do, in an aimless abandon through bleak heartlands. From humility he then cried to Heaven; Heaven heard and his throne was restored. (See Daniel 4:28-37 for this event of King Nebuchadnezzar's life.)

It is far better to start daily in sane humility than to descend to it.

Hear me Lord and answer me, for I am poor, helpless, sinful and needy. Guard my life and my heart, for I want to be devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you and set my sights on Glory.

Into your hands I commit my soul, spirit and well-being. You are my God; have mercy on me Lord for I call to you all day long. Bring righteous joy to your servant for I put my trust in you.

You are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. In the day of peace and the day of trouble I call to you, because you answer me.

Among the gods there are none like you, for there are no other gods at all; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.

Teach me your way afresh this day Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you my Lord, my God with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me. AMEN#

The daily dawn stepping from one's throne in prayerful soul-soaking humility is a divine dependence this unhinged world could only scoff at.

ENJOY their mocking, for it confirms you have begun well.
