The days are not well for Christians
By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. (Psalm 137:1)
2,500 years ago God's own lamented beside the great waters of Babylon. Little has changed.
We are in times where the fragile skeleton of planet earth is being revealed for what it truly is - finite.
The enquiring mind wants to make sense of life, moreso now. This is mankind’s unnamed, unspoken curriculum that lies resident in each human’s heart - to find reason.
God has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
The Bible gives us many hints to the dark and light spiritual places. It speaks of realities, powers, authorities and principalities that operate unseen. Every moment of every day they impact our planet and the breaths we draw. We don’t even grasp this.
Every news update becomes a reminder to pray.
Something is terribly wrong when the world is offended by everything except sin.
The Christian’s experience of calamity is not for condemnation but rather for the conviction of faith.
For we live by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
While the world is washed in pride it is equally bathed in fear. This is the inexorable triumph of sin as virtue.
The lessons Christians learn today will steer our tomorrow, lest we lose to Babylon and thus lose Zion.
By the rivers of Babylon we sit down and we weep too, still longing for Jerusalem our highest joy.
