Soul Snack 53/12 ... Alert and Available

Loosely hanging by His side were relaxed nail pierced hands. The wounds on His feet now scarred. This recently tortured body stood upon the Galilean seashore no longer troubled.

The risen Jesus looked intently across the waters to those He loved, into whom He had invested His entire self for the previous three years. He arrived early, so as not miss them. This bruised sentinel to costly love stood quietly, willing them with His eyes to see Him.

Finally their eyes engaged across the dawn waters; seven weary seafarers still not knowing and still not seeing.

Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. (John 21:4)

It is still Jesus' habit to arrive early in the morning.(Is 50:4c)

It is an easy and simple thing to miss Jesus early in the morning - even for those who know Him very well and have spent much time with Him previously.

Jesus could well be standing by your bed even before you awake. Eyes of faith will look for Him as they open. Alert faith (even if the body isn't) will stir the body to be able to enjoy His good food to start that day with.

Jesus is still alert, available and waiting for you, well before you are awake and available for Him.
