Facing off GIANTS!

Soul Snack 34/14 ... With battle lines drawn upon opposite hillsides, all three meters of Goliath raged across the valley of Elah against the ranks of Israel.

Then the Philistine said, ‘This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.’ On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified. (1 Samuel 17:10-11)

It is my suspicion that the giant of fear inside King Saul was far larger and louder than the one outside.

Where do your biggest giants roar from - within you or without?

What Philistine defies the Lord in your life, and fills you with dismay or terror?

How long will you permit Goliath to stand before you and taunt you?

Giants are easily recognized. They distill fear and challenge who really is your God. (The pursuit of a secure future, accumulation of assets, the hankering for honor, a fracturing marriage, or troubled children can be goliaths that dispel trust to countless Christian folk.)

BUT where there are giants, there are also killer stones.

David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.  (1 Samuel 17:45)

It is the name of the Lord that fells giants, and beheads Philistines! His name is the most lethal rock to hurl at your goliaths. Go on - call on Him!

He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. (Psalm 91:15)

Giants still die.
