There Is No Appeal Court

'Wicked' is an emotive word. It draws strong fire and venom when used in conversation.

'Wicked' is a word too many men shrink from. It is politically incorrect. Yet, it is a word of God's choice, an adjective He chooses and is not ashamed to use.

It is God's opinion alone that counts. His assessment of men's hearts and behavior is the final measure; no decision of a court, a legislative assembly or simply a bullying human spirit can ever overcome God. His decision is the end of any matter. There is no escape or scope of appeal. It is forever absent.

The judgement seat of Christ lends a seriousness to all life. ~ William Childs Robinson

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. (Romans 1:18) Note the present tense, this world is ALREADY under God's judgement, yet that final also assize awaits.

Behavior the good Lord describes as wicked:

  • suppressing the truth (Romans 1:18)
  • idol worship (Romans 1:25)
  • shameful lusts, where natural desire is exchanged for unnatural desire. Paul particularly cites lesbianism and homosexuality, calling these indecent and a perversion. (Romans 1:26-27)
  • evil, greed, envy, depravity, murder, strife, malice, deceit, gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to their parents, senseless, faithless, heart-less, ruthless AND approvers of those who do such things. (Romans 1:28-31)

Sin is the weight on the clock which makes the hammer strike. ~ George Swinnock

It is correct and indeed righteous for the good Lord to 'call out wickedness'. He will remove this eternally destructive cancer from His world, the one He once created as pure and perfect.

The time suddenly comes when only God's measure lives.

Enjoy life during your temporary days, but make sure you spend them in righteousness to secure well your eternal days.
