An inward call from JESUS#
Prayer is the highest achievement a human can be capable of. The created communing with The Creator.
Could you ever have considered prayer in this light?
Prayer is a duet of love in which the action of the Holy Spirit inspires and sustains during the darkness of faith. This is an inward call from Christ who dwells in the believer's soul.
From the Holy Spirit's presence within the whole sweep of prayer merges with the rhythmns of life. Prayer becomes part of the life's bustle, its daily regular rounds. But note - we are not heard from much speaking, nor is it wise when there are 'weeds on your seeds'. (see Surging in Prayer but Losing in Answers)
What could be sweeter than walking with and hearing the Lord's guidance, gripping tight His right hand? Pause to reflect on those who walked the road to Emmaus, and then invites Jesus in. To travel and stop with Jesus today is in prayer.
But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. (Luke 24:29)
St Ignatius of Loyala (1491- 1556), Bishop of Antioch was a prayer traveller who penned many a prayer still used to this day:
Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve You as You deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I am doing Your will. Amen
For those who would enter the exciting journey with prayer each day will not be burdened, but simply blessed.
