Soul Snack 212/12 ... Of Bondage & Dreams
Brothers still enslave brothers; a brother's lies deliver down-fall and a brother's ill-will seeks to kill. His brother's rejected his dreams. This was the lot of Joseph, dropped in a well and sold into Egyptian slavery. (Read the story in Genesis 37).
Brothers are still betrayed and dropped into unseen places (holes) to take them to important places (palaces). They must descend before they can ascend. They travel through poverty to arrive at prosperity. They live in danger before gaining safety - BUT even in bondage there is elevation and after bondage there is restoration.
I wonder how many countless dreamers across the millennia who would live their dreams have struggled along the course of Joseph?
Remember - when your dreams are yet to be completed, when brothers have betrayed you and the shaft of light down your well remains narrow that God WILL deliver you for:
You (Joseph speaking to his brothers) intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Gen 50:20)
The purpose of the pain is always higher than the well is deep.
