Is God too Ambitious?

My dear old dad would oft repeat to his 'listening impaired' son - don't bite off more than you can chew.

Ambition gets the better of ability (still too frequently for me).

  • Fights flare from unwise anger, and the hothead fool is outclassed by the other...
  • Car restorations begin but the vehicle is sold incomplete...
  • The hike is entered from eagerness, but energy has proved no match for enthusiasm...

these lapses of good judgement, despite the strongest of intentions are repeated daily worldwide.

In faithfulness He will bring forth justice; He will not falter or be discouraged till He establishes justice on earth. (Isaiah 42:3b-4a)

God is the promiser of IMPOSSIBLE things, even justice upon earth.

It looks as if God has lost control of the world - especially the need for justice. But in faithfulness God is reliable, and turns no blind eyes to His cause for justice.

God is not subject to poor self-assessment, busyness, weariness or discouragement. He neither stumbles nor falls in His intentions.

God's plans neither wax nor wane, He is not hesitant and His arm is not short. God seeks no counsel and has no boss to redirect His ways and His days. His bank balance is always sufficient for His projects.

God's ambitions will never exceed His abilities. His ambitions cannot be impeded by lack of skill or stronger opponents.

Unlike man, God's abilities are always equal to His ambitions. This should either be the point of human fear or the home of human rest.
