Jesus is no George Clooney

The universe is replete with untold types of stars. Not all are found in the skies.

Carrying the accolades only suitable for a celebrity, it is unlikely that there is any country George Clooney has not 'appeared' in. Born in 1961, his breakthrough was in his role as a doctor in ER. Raised as a strict Roman Catholic, he has since jettisoned his Christian faith.

Jesus was no heart throb. Born in an ancient village with no cot to sleep in, a backwater unknown. He lived as no charismatic George Clooney, and a man of small stature.

He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. (Isaiah 53:2-3)

The meaning of this is very important as we approach Jesus' invitations (to each of us) for only the right reasons. When we hear the soft voice we kneel to pray, not shout and clap.
