SMILING ASSASSINS

Palm Sunday is very curious, it is painted from a white and black palette.

Jesus is paraded before His people.

If Palm Sunday is about anything, it is about recognizing Jesus the Christ. AND, celebrating Him. There can be no doubt because this fickle mob will turn Jesus from...

  • Celebration to Calvary
  • The adoring become the assassinating
  • Hero to zero .... five days are a life-time in Messiahship

Abundant believers will become unbelievers in the fickle nature of Jesus’ acceptance.

Palm Sunday authenticates their true King. Predictions and Old Testament prophecies echo. These are most familiar to all the town. Now their king rides a donkey to them, before their very eyes.

The crowds enjoy ample opportunity to get Jesus correct, that they may do right in five days time - in fact they do 'correctly' worship Jesus. They can't claim ignorance of Jesus when Good Friday comes, and yet they will bay for His blood.

Zechariah 9:9 (500-450 BC) ... Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey'

NOTE - as you would expect this humble King arrived on a donkey, not a stallion, no thoroughbred here, nor in a grand chariot  = MESSIANIC HUMILITY. What better authentication of Jesus' messiahship could there be?

The evidence in this short story abundantly witnesses to the identity of Jesus.

For these pretenders on Sunday would become His persecutors come Friday.

JUST 2 TAKE AWAYS:

THOSE WHO FOLLOW THE CROWDS ALWAYS GET JESUS WRONG.

THE JESUS OF YOUR SUNDAYS IS ALSO THE JESUS OF YOUR FRIDAYS.

#Today's thoughts are an amalgam of the four Palm Sunday stories in the gospels.
