Remember the lepers ~ A

Remember the ten lepers Jesus healed? (Luke 17:11-19)

They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us." (12b-13)

Lepers were the pariahs of the ancient world. They were (are?) the 'clubs' of rejection.

Maybe the vagrants of railway stations, the bus stations or the back-blocks are a modern reincarnation?

It is these 'fringe-dwellers' who are sufficiently wise to call out to Jesus for - whoever comes to Him He will never drive away. (John 6:37)

The outcasts are more likely to listen to Jesus, why? The rejected know few welcomes.

A NOTE TO THE REJECTED: Jesus loves you as you are, and not as you should be. (Brennan Manning)

The Last Word:

'Lepers' do not bring distaste to Jesus. He finds no disgrace. Because, He gives without finding fault.
