A Church Circus

Soul Snack 61/11 ... A Church Circus

There is this day, a carnival -- indeed a circus of church success.

The successful church entrepreneurs believe they have found the key - the less successful believe they should copy.

Success in ministry is as driven as success in the business marketplace. The tools of man are so diligently practiced while the substance of Heaven is so foolishly ignored.

To each the Lord has assigned his own task.

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. (1 Cor 3:5)

This task is a work of construction (see all of 1 Cor 3:5-15).

The foundation is Christ and the work will be tested. God will examine the quality of the construction. To build on Christ with the things of this world will invite destruction by God.

The assigned task for each of us is to build on Christ's own foundation. Sacrifice is the mortar, while prayer is both the walls and roof, and fresh within God's toolbox are the fruit of the spirit (see Gal 5:22-25) as further equipment for each builder.

Success for God's Kingdom is achieved through spiritual thinking and activity and not through carnal wisdom.

Today's Soul Snippet:

The suffering of Jesus will always flow into those who would get behind Jesus and follow Him. (LK 23:27)
