Completing the Cross!

An unconscionable Pilate considered only self-protection.

Herod the Tetrarch sought a messianic sideshow.

The Jews blindly chose murder for their long awaited Messiah.

But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that He be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. (Luke 23:23)

The heartache of that first Easter continues to this very day; for each Easter the King hangs before the world, and each Easter He is still treated as a criminal, still slain in hearts afresh.

The sight of Easter is to reveal the burden of sin,

the light of Easter is to reveal the blindness of the soul, and

the might of Easter is to reveal the power of resurrection.

Somehow to this day, the cruel eyes of the now modern crowd are still clouded to the caring eyes and kind words of the Cross.

How difficult it is to recognize greatness and goodness when it is clothed in rejection and rags!

It is indeed the heart of every disciple to gaze amazed and humbled upon His rags.

A soul sensible to another's miseries, wants and nothingness completes the picture and purpose of the Cross.
