HIS RETURN IS CERTAIN#

That day lays hid that every day we be on the watch. ~ Augustine

There are certain truths that settle deep into the heart and never leave. For me, the promise of Christ’s return has always been one of them.

From a young age—around fifteen, when my spiritual eyes were first opened—I have carried a quiet but steady longing for what Scripture calls “the Blessed Hope.”

That hope is captured so simply and powerfully in the words of an old hymn: He may come in the morning, at noon, or in the evening. The message is unmistakable—His return is certain, but the timing is not. It calls for a life lived in readiness, not fear, but expectation.

Over the years, this anticipation has shaped even the ordinary moments of life. I would tell my children, sometimes half in earnest and half in assurance, “Eat up your meal—it could be your last on planet earth.” They grew tired of hearing it, of course. But behind those words was not alarm, but assurance. A reminder that eternity is not distant—it is approaching.

And now, looking at the world around us, that possibility feels closer than ever.

The Scriptures consistently point to a returning Savior—not as the suffering servant who bore the cross, but as the reigning and restoring King, clothed in glory and power. This changes the question from “if” to “are we ready?” Ready not just in belief, but in how we live, how we love, and how we wait.

The hymn asks a question that still echoes today: “Will He greet you with His ‘well done’?” That is the heart of it. Not speculation about timing, but preparation of the soul.#

Well done good and faithful servant, you have been faithful in a few things; I will put you over many things. Come and share your master's happiness. (Matthew 25:23)

ACHE & ACHE SOME MORE ... let your longings to meet Him run wild, ever deeper until you fall before Him prostrate at His feet.
