This Treasured Love
Tears welled in his tiny blue eyes. His swung arm had collided in innocence with the heirloom. Too young to understand its value, but already too old in knowing pain.
Clashing with the dark timber polished floor were white and blue fragments. This litter was miniscule when compared to the real significance of the scene. The century old Royal Doulton treasure now without value.
Miraculously no tirade arrived, no verbal thunderbolt shook his ears again. His heart was kept safe.
An elderly re-assuring arm rested lightly on heaving young shoulders. It swiftly and silently spoke 'love'.
Fear-filled eyes gazed upwards only to be melted by soft and loving ones.
The joy of the humble and gentle response brought more tears to his wounded young spirit; an anointing to both the giver and the receiver.
This grandmother's pride of enduring ownership would never be permitted to injure her grandson's heart or their relationship.
Love covers all ... There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. (Proverbs 10:12 / 1 John 4:18a)
A young heart washed in love today will be able to wash another's heart tomorrow.
Today's Soul Snippet:
