Ayatollah Ali Khamenei met his maker at the hands of his foes. His brutality will be/is/was legend. Today even Iran celebrates.
Unwittingly, and already bonded to mens' heart is 'eternity' while 'justice' resides nearby. The human heart is acutely alert to 'justice', it shares a pillow with 'righteousness'. They 'hold hands'. Blindly mankind searches for that good ruler, a 'ruler of righteousness'. Most get this wrong.
... He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
No doubt the 'jockeying' has begun, as a new future is considered. Yet - 'eternity', 'justice', and 'righteousness' has already been displayed.
This human life narrative invites Divinity, indeed God Himself. So God sends such a ruler:
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which He will be called:
The Lord Our Righteous Savior." (Jeremiah 23:5-6)
God rules wisdom. He continues to appoint leaders and rulers. God raises them up, and as with Nebuchadnezzar they all learn their feet are made of clay. 'Babylon's' mind, to this very day, is unable to discern Heaven's intentions.
God holds the mortgage on 'wisdom'. His plans are perfected at His first thoughts.
... for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” (Romans 14:11)

The late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei now mirrors the rich fool of Scripture, for Jesus says ... you fool, this very night your life will be required of you.' (Luke 12:20)
Cast your eyes upon Jesus, look evermore into His wonderful face for the earth and the heavens now shake, but we cling not onto men's momentary victories, rather rejoice alone in the victory of the Lamb.
