Keeping heaven's robes clean!

“Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat from the Tree of Life.” (Revelation 22:14)

Why do I wash my heavenly robes?# (See What are the 2 robes of Jesus?)

Oh, how grubby I allow my robes of sacrifice and righteousness to become. With too much shame I tarry before their washing.

How do I wash my heaven's robes, you may ask?

With the help of the convicting Holy Spirit. I eventually face the fact that dirt is clinging – through my own negligence.

What a relief to bring the grubbiness into the light, confess, repent, wash, scrub-with-the soap of truth (often involving humiliation to self – that’s costly!) – but the result is sheer relief!

And then revived, now watered, my love for Jesus blooms afresh! The gift from Him is of renewed cloaks of sacrifice and righteousness! I have prayed countless times to wash my robes – no sentimental clinging to the old staining grime any more.

There are eternal blessings and rewards to those who wash their robes.
