Recognising me

Soul Snack 20/12 ... Recognising me

The impetuous and impulsive apostle Peter had just got Jesus correct:

“But what about you?” he (Jesus) asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matt 16:15-16)

Peter had perfectly defined Jesus - Jesus then returned the favor to Peter.

" ... And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matt 16:18-19)

Jesus defined those who belong to Him - He told them who they truly are.

Peter knew he was a fisherman but Jesus thought of him as a builder, a church planter, indeed a fisher-of-men.

Jesus knew who Peter really was, well before Peter ever did. Peter was Jesus' gatekeeper to God's kingdom upon earth.

Usually our history, our work, our friends or just this world defines us, BUT we must know who Jesus really is before we can ever know who we really are.

Today's Soul Snippet:

Jesus wants me to be busy with Him and not just for Him.
