Of the Meek & Inheritance

Escaping the crowds, Jesus scaled a mountainside and sat. This was at the start of His earthly ministry. Eager young disciples pursued Him; wisely Jesus took this moment for instruction. As they listened Jesus drew back life's curtains to coach spiritual ambition, as He began to reverse this world.

Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

How? This is the hanging question any thinker must ask.

Jesus asserts that the earth belongs to the gentle and the retiring, those without blame - not the warrior.

Upon earth there will always be another warrior until all war is defeated. Warriors usually have both the intent and the capability to seize what does not belong to them. But they can know no peace, nor own their spoils too long.

At the close of time, when the Lord returns, the history of wars will not be in heaven's museums for the things of the past are lost; God does not honor sin.

When the warriors have departed the face of the earth, only the gentle will remain. A gentle person will not strike out, and a meek person fails to assert themselves.

This softer remnant will be permanently safe for none will seek to take from the other. And so they have inherited the earth.

Meekness is the key to inheriting peace and this earth, for the meek are not forever fighting.

The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. (Psalm 37:18)

Spiritual ambition unlocks the gates to the Kingdom of God.
