Soul Snack S15/10 ... 'Great George'

I prefer to think of him as 'Great George'.

"My needs are met each day by the help of God" was his humble boast.

This man who refused debt would also not pursue wealth. This man refused to ask anybody for anything. His point of pleading was always the throne of grace.

George Muller, a man of unplumbed an unshakable faith knew full well the simplicity of life lived in the trust of the Divine. Affectionately known 'as the robber of the streets' he built 5 orphanages, cared for 10024 children and only ever sought the Lord for provision.

George literally lived Matthew 6:31 & 34. He is man to inspire me!

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

While all Christians would wholeheartedly agree, would all live as George did?

Today, we work hard to accumulate. We enter debt and enslave ourselves to the lender to accumulate. Jesus focuses me on trust this day, I focus me on accumulation for tomorrow.

Is the biggest problem with Matthew 6:31 & 34 that it confronts not simply a lack of faith, but the prevailing passion to accumulate. I still believe I can serve my tomorrows best. I then serve my tomorrow and neglect His today for me.

Jesus promises sufficiency in this day, I pursue abundance for tomorrow. My desire to accumulate can easily defeat my delight to trust.
