INTRODUCING PARABLES

Those who would sit with Christian parables will explore a betterment without peer. God is behind the details and in the flow.
At sunday school I learned that parables are earthly stories with heavenly meanings.
Give ear, O My people, to My teaching; incline your ears to the words of My mouth! I will open My mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old. (Psalm 78:1 & 2)
AND -
This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.” (Matthew 13:35)
Parables carry a prophetic thrust for they inform understanding/change and even repentance.
... I spoke to the prophets, gave them many visions and told parables through them.” (Hosea 12:10)
Biblical parables are selective. They are clear to some and hidden to others, God's method of further 'classroom education'.
The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” … This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.” (Matthew 13:13 & 14)
Jesus held the habit of speaking in parables. He chose either to illumine or hide. They can confront or confound. But, they will always entertain the child. (Don't forget, Jesus loves the way children think.)
Parables maybe penned in the desert, but reflect the ways of paradise.
Parables are a guiding path for those who would pursue and ponder them, and then obey.
