Beggars @ the Throne of Grace

When a woman who had led a sinful life ... learned that Jesus was eating at a Pharisee's house ... kissed Jesus' feet and poured perfume on them ... (the Pharisee objected) ... then Jesus said to her 'your sins are forgiven'. (Full story in Luke 7:36-50)

Barren Hannah holds a dry womb, but rich faith. The bitterness of her soul did not jettison her faith. Samuel, the priest, believed ill of her.

Faith was not always the way of life, nor will it be. Faith is our transport across earth, our shield of protection. But faith too often is met by a shaking and pointed finger of many a Pharisee. Judge-mental religious men are all around us.

A lady of the city anoints Jesus' feet with tears, wipes His feet with her hair, then kisses His freshly dried feet to finally pour perfume upon them. Simon, the Pharisee objects.

The religious then and now still get Jesus wrong.

Jesus defends the reprehensible to they who are without defense.

The Last Word:

Really, aren't we all, indeed every one of us - mere beggars too before The Throne of Grace?
