Goliath goes!
Soul Snack 9/112 ... Giants do die!
Pimples plotted embarassment across his ruddy face. But this enemy was far more threatening now than any mirror.
The valley was verdant, the giant was menacing.
Skinny, without armor and naively vulnerable, he ventured where no man (nor boy for that matter) had ever gone before.
The Valley of Elah electric, as eagerness and confidence flooded the Philistines and fear de-nuded the Israelites.
Nine vertical feet of arrogance assailed the ears of the weakened Israelites. Somehow, maybe even miraculously, Goliath's assailant ignored these boasts. Dismay and terror filled the Israelite camp, but not the anointed next king of Israel.
The armor of man was no help to David. He chose only 5 stones from a creek and one slingshot. His faith was not in his ability but in his God's abilities. In fact David had 'over prepared', one stone would be sufficient.
Running boldly towards his assailant, David loaded his slingshot, swinging it deliberately above his head. As he released it a piercing whistle preceded a simultaneous hollow thud and ear-jarring scream! This giant was dead.
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him. 1 Sam 17:50
There are no giants in my life that God can't defeat either. The battle is to be entered boldly without the things of man, just the thinking of God. Faith always triumphs over fear.
With God on your side, you and God are always the majority! Giants do die!
