Halloween fills a Vacuum
Surely Halloween should stir a shudder in Christian spines everywhere, as a fingernail succeeds when it slides down a blackboard?
A world distressed and hungry for light, searches for the compass to life. Its spirit wanders for guidance, while the soul is famished for food. The world dances in the dark with the unseen devil each Halloween.
This darkness of Halloween doesn't creep, but rather invades the land with a hearty welcome from the ignorant and the naive.
A celebration of the dead, a fantasy intent to corrupt young minds (and dull older ones) is no more innocent than satan himself.
This world still walks in night, notably oblivious to its escort from the shadow of death.
Mankind confronts Christ, but celebrates satan. They blindly herald the acts darkness and hound the actions of light.
Let each Halloween drive the sober disciple to their knees and enquire - how is Christ honored at Halloween?
Jesus is honored when darkness is called out by light, and with no dilution.
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2)
It is only the Light of the World that can dispel the flooding gloom of Halloween.
Today's Soul Snippet:
"God forges prophets in the wilderness, for it is His anvil to make them strong."
