The swarthy 'Loser'

Soul Snack 203/11 ... The swarthy Loser

Surely he took up our infirmities
   and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted. (Is 53:4)

This grace is unimaginable - Jesus actually and willingly carried my sorrows. The injustice of this is beyond my reason. The love of this is outside my apprehension. The significance of this is unfathomable.

While Jesus carried my sorrows to an ancient world that watched Him die, He simply looked like a swarthy loser. He was yet another to despise and ridicule, a colleague to sinners or so these fools of antiquity believed. Yet, He was living the greatest act of selfless love that canopied the cruellest act of betrayal.

As they spurned, reviled and insulted Him these witnesses saw on that foul hillside what was indeed the biggest BEST of eternity, while they happily and blindly believed ill of Him. They had seen good but only found evil.

What their eyes saw did not betray reality.

Can true nobility ever be observed, grasped or understood, for if it was - would it be nobility?

I now falteringly endeavour to reserve my judgements lest I too repeat their sin, miss true nobility and call good - evil!

Today's Soul Snippet:

Love is the glue of the universe, the yeast of grace and the breath of healing.
