THE UNMISSABLE ETERNAL CELEBRATION

The Book of Revelation opens with, “The revelation from Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:1). Then almost immediately the reader plunges into those compelling 7 Letters penned to the 7 Churches, teasing each reader to question:

am I TOO in one of these letters, worshipping in a church with varying charges and commendations from the Lord? These were described 2000 years ago, are there take-aways still today? And, of course there is.

Following the 7 Letters we see the beautiful, mind-bending throne room of God. Here the endless celebrations become revealed. 7 Spirits are before the Throne as 7 Lamps. An uninmagined array of elders and creatures fly. As with the King of Nineveh (Jonah 3:6) the elders lay down their crowns. They offer worship to He who was slain, but now who lives forevermore. Then sadness arrives (Revelation 5), the scroll with 7 Seals remains unopened. But, this malaise is short lived - for the One who is truly worthy was found to open the scroll and peel away it's 7 Seals. (Revelation 5:5) Celebration breaks out. For, He was slain and by His blood purchased many men from every people and nation, these will reign on earth. More singing erupts.

Do you catch 'the vibe'? Revelation's celebration is tasting God's new wine?

Following on the 7 Seals are opened, angels become very busy and trumpets are blown. Judgement is brought upon earth.

Then the beast rises, 7 Angels are engaged in war. The wrath of God falls, to be poured upon the earth.

There is fear, destruction and calamities as yet unimgainable, and as yet unfulfilled.

BUT NOTE: Revelation begins with the prophecy - it is soon to take place (1:1). It ends likewise, YES, I AM coming soon. (22:41)

... we can embrace Revelation for showing us the glorified, resurrected Christ. He’s the one we worship. (Bill Crowder)

Armed with this knowledge, we find the strength to persevere, waiting for that unmissable eternal celebration.

You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. (James 5:8)
