Painful Fields of the Past?
Idle times and thoughts can draw us painfully backwards. The past steadfastly seeks to torment today.
Injuries to the soul, the sins and longings of yesterday tease afresh. They linger in the present or taunt tomorrow. There is no recess of the soul so deep that they cannot rise and ignite today.
Malevolently the past draws towards the maudlin. The soul captured by yesterday's poverties debilitates the body today.
Feelings from the past can cripple the present and destroy the future.
It is within these fields of the past the fertile seeds that steal a future are dormant. Haunted memories dwelt upon now, rob today's health (equilibrium) and pierce tomorrow's hope with fear.
It is satan's deliberate intent to keep reminding you of the past, and plough your past into your present.
Next time satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.
Release the past to the Throne of Grace before it takes you from the Throne of Grace. Jesus holds no past against you, permit satan no such privilege.
Satan knows God has a good future for you and attempts to rob you of this.
With Jesus, the things of yesterday need not rule today, nor become constraints of tomorrow.
He invites:
Come up higher, come up higher, where the scars of the past are soothed and disappear. Come up higher, where your life takes on My image, and not the marred visage of past disappointment.#
"Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past." (Isaiah 43:18)
In prayer make your history - history!
O Lord - thankyou that I no longer have to live in yesterday, I now seek to go higher with you. There are so many things that still entangle me. Please take them from me now. I forgive those who have hurt, betrayed, lied and believed ill of me. (Name these times, things and people in the prayer now). AMEN
NB - This is a prayer that may need to be repeated, until all is finally released.
