Pope Leo XIV - A Warning

Echoing Isaiah 46:13 Jesus began His ministry calling for repentance and belief.

Repent and believe for the kingdom of God is at hand. (Mark 1:15)

Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903) history records as the 'social pope'. Hence, Robert Francis Prevost chose to follow. This is evidenced in his warm speech.

What a commendable text and articulate delivery. Words for itching ears. Appropriately replete with 'peace' and 'love'. This new Pope already in the vein of his predecessor, Francis and his namesake. It now celebrates another with gusto.

This is the peace of the Risen Christ, an unarmed and disarming peace, humble and persevering. It comes from God, God who loves us all unconditionally. We still have in our ears that weak but always courageous voice of Pope Francis who blessed Rome!

The pope who blessed Rome gave his blessing to the world, to the entire world, that Easter morning.

Allow me to follow up on that same blessing: God cares for us, God loves all of us, and evil will not prevail! We are all in God's hands. Therefore, without fear, united hand in hand with God and among ourselves, let us move forward.

We are disciples of Christ. Christ goes before us. The world needs His light. Humanity needs Him as the bridge to reach God and His love.

Woe to you, when all men speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. (Luke 6:26)

Jesus was no people pleaser, quite the opposite. The Vatican teaches that the Pope is Christ's vicar on earth (falsely), thus he would be counter-cultural and calling for repentance and belief first, far more helpful than assuaging strangers' souls.
