Pressing On!

The uncontrollable setting of each day may decide to build us up or conspire to tear us down. Other days could be more tempered, and still others - waves of elation may roll over us. Time and chance both rise for and against a human's emotions. This is the lot of man.

Amidst these times when energy rises, pride grabs, joy flows or eyes well - there is a shield to hold and a defence to mount so that a 'fired-at' emotion may not steal today or injure tomorrow.

Often the overflow of emotion is the invitation to give up, to no longer to press on in Christian faith.

...take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish ALL the flaming arrows of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:16 - emphasis added)

When:

  • the feet are weary...
  • the spine is spent...
  • tomorrow seems bleaker than today and still God has you waiting, or
  • as pleasure fills your heart and God is so easily left behind... REMEMBER

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. (Revelation 3:11)

Look forward to falling at Jesus' scarred feet (this is not far away), hearing His eternal words of approval and feeling the light touch of your crown, as Jesus bends over and slips it securely upon your head. There is NOTHING in eternity (let alone found on earth) worth losing this for.

Press on - that no one, no object, no event or no desire can snatch your Crown of Life.

Confidence in the reward fortifies the desire to not turn from the pain.

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)
