Sharpening the Heart

Some men may seek to rob the world of poverty, while others may strangely share an equal energy for vengeance.

Ambition is the home of eager intent and then energetic action. It can be both positive or negative in its pursuits.

With shame I confess the time still arises when my ambitions remains stapled to sin.

Actions quickly follow intent, as rapidly as doing follows thinking.

The Holy Spirit inspired words of God are to sharpen my heart, warn me of sin, or even sear my heart in shame. From the pain of shame I learn distaste for sin.

There is no seeking of purity without a hatred for pollution.

Desire blurs wise action. It gazes through tinted glasses at the attractive, but not necessarily the righteous.

The love of sin dilutes its terrible nature. Such desire obscures the view of righteousness as distance weakens the sight of mountain ranges.

There is no thirsting for righteousness without the dislike of sin.

Ambition is a lust that is never quenched, but grows more inflamed and madder by enjoyment. ~ Thomas Otway

Let no man be enthusiastic to sin. Sin is a germ, when watered it multiplies to strangle the man.

Sin repeated is sin accepted.
