Man's Most Difficult Task!

SOUL SNACK 61 ... Man's most difficult task!

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Tim. 1:7

Shortly before dying, ex Beatle George Harrison claimed: ‘Everything in life can wait, but the search for God can not!' He is correct!

All in life can be delayed. So much should be delayed. Except for one thing I can't delay! It is just so exceptionally difficult to delay indulging myself. The opportunities are manifold. Their cry is clarion. Do-nuts, investments, or even lethargy beckon immediately. Each driven by some greatly mis-placed sense of legitimacy.

The skills to justify indulgence are so finely honed. They are truly our hidden second nature (see Mt 7:3-5).

Jesus' desire, indeed His instructions to His own, is that they live the impossible, and that they deny themselves! No unaided human can do this. Yet for he who sits in his Masters presence there is supernatural assistance. Jesus gives His spirit!

The spirit of power and love and self discipline is for our benefit, for our well being. There is now no place for timidity in attacking self indulgence. I can now be actively aggressive to achieve self denial. Man's most difficult task is now temporally and eternally possible. COPYRIGHT 06
