Soul Snack 8/142 ... SORROW!

Indelible, imprinted and ingrained in all are the seasons of sorrow.

Sorrow can take humans to and beyond their limits.

Curiously sorrow can both enrich and impoverish a soul.

Sorrow is dead weight to the soul. It is the cloud that darkens hope.

Sorrow withers the future and blackens the present.

Sorrow is yeast to despair. It is the catalyst to give up.

Sorrow assaults the spirit and weakens the body. It can fuel emotions beyond endurance.

Even the soothing balm of encouragement can be shallow to a soul of sadness.

2000 years ago an emasculated, humiliated and selfless Jesus carried for me what at many times I am unable to carry myself.

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows ... Isaiah 53:4a

All my sorrows (plus so much more) Jesus took for me to the Cross before I knew Him.

Jesus carried my sorrows while He was in no fit state to even carry His own.

He has not given up on carrying my sorrows. His 2000 year old invitation still stands!

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matt 11:28-30
