Soul Snack 8/168 ... A Sin Saviour

As bugs are attracted to light, so am I attracted to sin.

Sin feels like light, but hurts like darkness.

Sin promises hope, but delivers despair.

Sin promises a fine feast, but only serves up a failing famine.

To continue in sin is to receive God's grace without return thanks. Sin ignored is grace dismissed. Sin maintained cheapens His mercy and scoffs at His forgiveness.

The burdens and shame that are thrust upon a sinner His Spirit is only too willing to remove.

His willingness to restore will always exceed my sinfulness that destroys.

The certainty of my failure is always surpassed by the certainty of His forgiveness.

O Lord - that I would truly know the depth of my sin, the mightiness of its drive, and the unknowable pain my continuing sin causes you. Amen.

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. 2 Corinthians 7:1
