Soul Snack 8/204 ... Too Easy!

Confidence coursed easily through his veins, flowing around his body.

Confidence oozed from his lips.

Confidence seeped across his cortex.

No new challenges, no opportunities for self-doubt came his way any longer. He had seen to that. He couldn't even remember the last time he'd approached a cliff edge, faced defiantly into a wind's onslaught or expended unknown energy to reach a mountain top.

He had met a satisfying and comfortable success, but not a stretched success. No Peter Principle to be found here - no risk here of moving up beyond his level of competence.

Unstretched and unsullied he would approach each day in a gentle harmony. Yet confidence in oneself is a mis-placed confidence. As the wit remarks of a defendant representing himself in court, '...he has fool for a client.'

To approach a day without God dependence is even less wise than approaching the bench with your self as as your client.

That which can be too easy to do, can be that which is too easy to get wrong.

Depend on God because He wants the opportunity to be dependable for you.

Today Father I want to depend upon you alone, not on my own efforts and strengths. I want to depend on you for the familiar and the unfamiliar. I put my speech, my actions and all my responses today into your hands Father. Please equip me in the simple that I will trust in you for the difficult. I want to look to you alone. Amen.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  Gal 2:20
