The Self-Abandoned

Soul Snack 191/10 ... The Self - Abandoned

The steps of life are embedded in the search for love, some are in a fun-run, while others are in a marathon.

There are those who are despised even before they are born. They are born and then abandoned. Birth had delivered them onto a fragile plane of rejection.

No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised. (Ez 16:5b)

The child of abandonment will soon understand to abandon self. They quickly learn to flee the searing interchanges of rejection and the persistent encounters of disinterest. In self-abandonment they find security and in isolation they enjoy safety.

The self-removed and self-protective cave of dwelling is a mean but gentler existence. Their paradox to life is their chosen method of self-rescue. Their self-rescue from abandonment is to abandon themselves from others. In isolation, they find joy. Relational health can never ensue, but an insecure rest sure can.

To the self-abandoned, the abandoned messiah pleads from two meters above Golgotha "... there was always one person who had not abandoned you, in fact I abandoned me, so that you would never be abandoned. Come to me from your cave, abandon yourself into my arms, for I turn no-one away.'"

All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. (Jn 6:37b)
